Why do you think organizations should develop their own information technology project management methodologies? Why can’t they just follow a book or a methodology that has already been developed?

Every project is unique in its own way so are the approaches in project management, it has different requirements and needs. Organizations should develop their own information technology project management methodologies hence these differences, they know what works for what project and what it may need. Organizations often spend time and money on training but after training project manager may still not know how to put forward their skills to the organization’s needs. Books normally incorporate out dated materials and may be insufficient; this information can be confusing and also time consuming.

  1. Well the training for project managers teaches practices. Methodologies just show us how to use these best practices. So trained project managers may know how best practices but they just need an organization's methodology to best implement those best practices.
